How You Can Avoid Taxes on Your Tuition $$
Recent changes in the tax laws have provided parents who send their children to private K-12 schools an opportunity to save tax-free for tuition to those private schools. The Tax Cuts and Jobs Act recently passed by the U.S. Legislature includes a provision that expands the scope of benefits for 529 college savings plans. 529 plans were originally designed to help families save for college expenses through tax- advantaged investment accounts. Using the 529 accounts, families can benefit from tax-free compounding, as well as tax-free withdrawals used to pay for college tuition and other college related expenses.  Under the provisions of the December 2017 changes to this legislation, parents will be eligible to use 529 savings accounts to pay for private, K-12 schools. This gives parents an opportunity to receive a tax benefit on the tuition dollars they were already planning on spending.   NCCS has partnered with FCB Banks to provide an informational seminar for parents interested in learning more about these changes in the 529 tax laws and how they may benefit from them. We invite you to come to this seminar on Tuesday, February 13 in our school cafeteria at 6:30 pm. We anticipate the informational portion of the seminar will last about 30 minutes, followed by 10-15 minutes for our presenter to answer questions. In order to help us plan and prepare handouts and materials, please notify Kendra Smith via email at k.smith@nccsmo.org, or via telephone at 314-972- 6227 if you plan on attending.  Immediately following the seminar, we will hold our monthly meeting for the Crusader Parent Association. We invite you to stay and attend the CPA meeting.

NCCS is hosting an OPEN HOUSE on Thursday, February 8, at 7:00 pm, for NEW (prospective) students for the 2018-19 school year. Word of mouth has been our best advertisement, so we hope you will take the time to invite and encourage your family and friends to attend.  Open House flyers are available in the administration office to share with your friends. When they bring the flyer to Open House they will receive a $50 discount towards their registration fee for 2018-19 school year.

Open House is also a good way for current families to take a look at the next level of education your child may be entering. PK to kindergarten, elementary to middle school and middle school to high school are big steps in the educational process. If your student is making one of these steps, please join us at open house so you can ask your questions and meet some of the teachers in the next level.
