Lamar University breaks ground on new Science and Technology Building
Lamar University administrators, Texas State University System representatives, retired and current faculty and staff members, students and alumni gathered on May 2, 2017 to break ground for the construction of a new 83,000-square-foot Science and Technology Building.

Work clearing the construction site has begun and substantial completion of the building is expected in late November 2018. The building is the design of architect Gensler working with a faculty-led university committee, and will be built by Vaughn Construction, becoming the first new entirely academic building to be added to the LU campus in more than four decades.

"Here, cooperative multi-disciplinary discovery will become the norm and generations of graduates will go from here ready to impact their world with a wider vision of what science and technology can do to serve mankind and solve real world problems," said James Marquart, provost and vice president for academic affairs. Woodard triplets track toward futures
image of Adrian, Andre and Anthony Woodard
Adrian, Andre and Anthony Woodard learned quickly that family is all you have. The Woodard brothers are original natives of Nashville, TN, but in 2009, they established residency in Texas.

"Moving from Tennessee to Texas, we realized that family is all that we have. We got a chance to get closer because it was just us," said Anthony.

The triplets moved after their freshman year of high school, when their father landed a job in Beaumont. All three brothers are students in LU's College of Fine Arts and Communication. Anthony is a corporate communication major, Andre is majoring in photography, and Adrian is a music major. Collectively the Woodard triplets have been very successful in their academic endeavors.

"Being in college, we have gotten to shine our light in our own personalities, where we all exemplify leadership in our own special way," said Andre. Read more.
