27th Annual Boone Trail Days
What was life like in the 1800’s when St. Charles County was the frontier? Students at Boone Trail Elementary found out as classroom lessons came to life and students and staff celebrated the 27th annual “Boone Trail Days” on October 12th and 13th. Students took part in hands-on activities like making rope, churning butter, and spinning wool. They also enjoyed demonstrations on blacksmithing and frontier life. “I love Boone Trail Days! I have been doing it since kindergarten and have learned so much about pioneering,” said sixth grader Danny Wilson. “My favorite part is the pioneer stew.”
WSD Celebrates Discovery Days
Students at Discovery Ridge Elementary participated in the eighth annual “Discovery Days” during the week of October 2-6. The event, conceived by faculty members in 2010 before construction of the new elementary school was even completed, focuses on discovery in the physical world. “Discovery Days is an exciting time of year during which our Discovery Ridge community celebrates flight, space and related STEM topics,” said Discovery Ridge Principal Laura Bates. “We have seen students highly interested in science throughout the year as a result of this engaging week of learning.”
