CharacterPlus National Conference
June 16-17 • pre-conference June 15

We're so excited to continue the tradition of student involvement in our annual conference. Here's just one session featuring students who have embraced character education:

Character Goes Viral: High School Students Use Social Media to Counter Cyberbullying

Presenter(s): Diane Stirling, professional development director, CharacterPlus, EducationPlus; high school students from Bayless, Belleville East, Belleville West, Fox, Ladue, Lafayette, Lindbergh and Mehlville High Schools
Topic: Bully Prevention & Cyberbullying
Audience: Middle School, High School
Audience Experience Level: Advanced

Learn from the high school students who started a social media movement through connection, encouragement and by valuing each other for who they are. They created the Twitter hashtag #StartsWithUs last fall and watched it go viral in the St. Louis region and beyond, reaching more than 2 million people by spring. These students will tell you about their purpose, the launch and how they kept the momentum going with
mini- campaigns. You’ll also see the results of surveys of  their student bodies and learn from their experience about what works and what doesn’t work to make character go viral. The session involves a 20 minute overview and time for you to rotate through stations manned by student experts.
