Edtech Offerings This Spring from EducationPlus
Starting in March the LearningLab has several new educational technology workshops focusing on social media, 21st century learners, media literacy and visual literacy.

Many of you saw Julie Smith present at the METC Conference earlier this month and we're excited to have her share her expertise:

March 24 - Teaching in the 21st Century: Media Literacy Across the Curriculum

March 26 - Social Media in Schools:

March 31 - Visual Literacy: Use Critical Thinking Skills To Examine Images

April 9 - Teaching & Learning Through Tweets: Twitter for Teachers

April 16 - Engage 21st Century Learners: Bring your Classroom and Students to Life

April 23 - Social Media: How the Kids Use It & What it Means for Your Digital Footprint

Also this spring, two days of learning on Discovery Education streaming are scheduled, as are two days with LEGO Education:

March 9 or May 11 - Discovery Education Class: Come learn the user-friendly features including the My DE page and drag & drop features in My Content. Find out about the curriculum focused features including the Ready Zone, STEM Connect and more!

May 5 - Project Based Learning & 21st Century Skills in the Elementary Classroom with LEGO Education: Join us for the first in a series of fun and engaging elementary workshops where participants will have the opportunity to work with LEGO Education kits and technology to bring Common Core and NGS to life.

May 6 - Project Based Learning & 21st Century Skills with LEGO Education: topics will vary by session, with participants using these manipulatives:
   -  MINDSTORMS Robotics EV3: Explore real world Math, Science, Renewable Energy and Engineering
   -  Simple & Motorized Mechanisms: Physical Science, Physics, Renewable Energy, and Engineering

Innovation Specialist Tanya Avrith
Keynotes CharacterPlus National Conference

Google Certified Teacher and Apple Distinguished Educator Tanya Avrith will present the keynote at the CharacterPlus National Conference. While she was the lead educational technology and digital citizenship teacher at the Lester B. Pearson School Board in Montreal, Canada, Tanya was instrumental in the vision and execution of the district-wide Digital Citizenship Program.

She has also been to Facebook's headquarters to discuss digital citizenship education. Tanya spent the last two years teaching students how to harness the power of social media and will be incorporating this message into her keynote. She is the co-host of Follow @TanyaAvrith on Twitter.

The CharacterPlus National Conference is June 16-17, with pre-conference sessions on June 15. Registration is now open, early bird rates end March 13.
