Important Note From the Nurse

School Health Services protocol requires that all medication housed in the school health office must be picked up by parents or guardians by the last day of school. In order to ensure the safe return of medication to parents, no medication will be sent home with students in backpacks or on the bus/school transportation. All medication remaining in the health office after May 24th will be disposed of per Parkway policy.  Please notify the nurse when you are available to pick up your children’s medications.

Penny Drive This Week
Carman Trails PTO is  having a penny collection (May 14-19) to help get the students interested in the teacher incentives that are being offered with Our Carman. All money collected will go toward our overall Carman Cares goal. The classes with the highest totals will have the chance to participate in spray painting Ms. Ho and Mrs. Finke's hair, spraying 1st grade teachers with silly string, fixing Ms. Plumley and Mr. Allen up as an ice cream sundae, and doctoring up Dr. Love and Dr. Villigram with hot dog condiments. . There will be an opportunity for 1-4 classes to help. Once the highest classes have been identified, we will ask that each student that is interested in possibly helping to put their name in a class raffle to represent their class. We need your help...send in those coins!
Carman Cafe News
Beginning Monday, May 7th, your child's account must have a positive balance.  If a student's account is or will become negative after this date, they will be given an alternate meal.  A la carte items may not be purchased if an account balance is negative.
Please note that this is a Parkway School District policy/notification.
On Thursday, May 24th, the last last day of school, we will be serving pizza not a sack lunch.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact our lead dietary aide.

Girls on the Run
Hello Families!
Next year we are going to have a GOTR team here at Carman Trails. If you are not familiar, this is a program for girls in grades 3-5. In this program, life skills are taught through lessons and running games; which leads to a celebratory 5K at the end.
With that being said, in order to make this program successful, we need help! This is a 10-week program that will meet starting mid-September 2 times a week (before or after school), leading up to the 5K that is on November 17th.
I know this is a little early to be thinking about next year, but if you would like to help out with this amazing program, please let me know! (

Open PTO Executive Board Positions for the 2018-2019 & 2019-2020 School years
Are you looking for new ways to show your love and support for Carman Trails? Are you someone with a positive attitude, creative, self-motivated and a "team" player? Have you ever considered the PTO Executive Board?  We currently have two open Fundraising Co-Chair positions. Fundraising Co-Chairs are responsible for working together, as well as with the PTO board, to coordinate Carman Restaurant Night Out Events and our "Our Carman" fundraiser. Board positions terms are for 2 school years (2018-209 & 2019-2020). The executive board meets the last Tuesday each month.  It's a great way to meet new people and support our school at the same time!!
If you would like more information, think you might be interested in one of the positions or know someone you think might be a good fit, please let us. Contact the PTO Board at:
Carman Trails at Busch Stadium
All 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students are invited to sing "Take Me Out to the Ballgame" on May 20th.  We will sing during the 7th inning stretch, so there is no need for students to arrive early.  Mr. Allen will send more information home as we get closer to the performance.
