THE GIVING TREE
Lewis and Clark has promoted a “Giving Tree” for several years. Again this year, we would like to assist the needs within our Lewis and Clark Family. The holiday season is a great time to teach our students about altruism and compassion. The Giving Tree is a wonderful opportunity for our school family to recognize the needs of others and respond compassionately by providing for those needs. Students and families may participate in the program if they like. Special ornaments are placed on the Christmas tree just inside the front doors of school listing gifts needed by several families. A letter was sent home this week describing how you can participate. If you missed this letter, you can find a copy here. Thank you in advance for helping our Lewis and Clark family.
A NOTE FROM NURSE MOLLY
It's that time of year again to think about preventing the flu.  While seasonal influenza (flu) viruses can be detected year-round in the United States, flu viruses are most common during the fall and winter. Making healthy choices at school and at home can help prevent the flu and spreading flu to others.  Here is a link to information from the CDC regarding everyday activities we can practice to prevent the flu.

PTC MEETINGS
Due to conflicts, we had to change the dates of two of our PTC meetings. The remaining dates for PTC meetings are Jan. 8, Feb. 7, and April 4. We would love to have you join us!
CONNECTING WITH FAMILIES
We want to make it as easy as possible for you to keep up with your schools. That's why we are introducing the Fort Zumwalt App to parents at Hawthorn, Lewis & Clark, Mid Rivers and St. Peters elementaries as well as parents at DuBray Middle and East High. It is free for iPhone and Android.

With your help, we can fine-tune our app before introducing it to parents across the district.

Please tell us what you think, either through our survey (http://go.fzsd.us/appsurvey) or bye-mailing  media@fz.k12.mo.us.

Thanks for helping us strengthen the home-school connection.
