An Update From Cub Creek Science Camp

Dear Cub Creek and Animal Camp Jamaica Families,

We appreciate your patience as we navigate the changing landscapes of Coronavirus (COVID-19) and how that influences Cub Creek Science Camp and Animal Camp Jamaica in 2020. We understand the increasing impact of the Coronavirus is concerning and our thoughts are with all our families affected by the outbreak.

Cub Creek’s Current Plan

We wanted to reach out and let you know our plans for Cub Creek Science Camp and Animal Camp Jamaica 2020 in response to the COVID-19 virus.

1.  Our plan is to run camp this summer as scheduled.  Knowing that the start of camp is nearly 3 months from now, we anticipate that the majority of COVID-19 restrictions will be lifted before the beginning of our season.  To help ensure the health of our campers, we are preparing to institute more thorough pre-camp screen and daily sanitation procedures into our camp routine.

2. Prior to the start of camp, our office will continue to operate on its regular schedule: Monday - Friday from 8 am to 5 pm.

3.  In order for us to be prepared for the arrival of our campers and to ensure that your children have an amazing summer camp experience, our tuition and paperwork deadline will remain at April 1st.  Now, more than ever, we recommend camp tuition insurance.  We have checked with our preferred camp tuition insurance company, “A+ program protection”, and have been told that they do not have any exclusions for pandemics.  They do however, require that you purchase this insurance before making your final payment. The cost of this insurance is just $59 per week of camp and offers reimbursement of camp tuition should a camper be unable to attend camp due to medical reasons; A Doctor’s note may be required.  Please see Plan Documents for full details. Here is a link to their quote page.

4.  We are currently working on creating online activities geared to help our campers build excitement for the summer and get their minds off of being at home. Stay tuned via email for some helpful links and be sure to follow us via Facebook and Instagram for announcements and posts.

We are monitoring the CDC’s evolving standards as well as city and state government advisers and will follow all recommendations to ensure that our campers stay healthy and our families stay informed. As we get new information, we will pass it on to you. If situations change for you, or if you are having trouble meeting our April 1st deadline, please call our office or send us an e-mail.  We would like to work with you in keeping camp a part of your child’s summer.

Our hearts remain with our camp families. It’s in times like this that we remember we are all a part of a community. We’re available through all our regular contacts. (, 573-458-2125, and messaging through Social Media platforms).

Stay safe, God bless, and we’ll be in touch soon.
