Dr. Amanda Allen named Principal of North Middle School
Dr. Amanda Allen has been named as principal of North Middle School beginning with the 2020-2021 school year.

Dr. Allen brings 20 years of middle school teaching and leadership experience to the role. She has served as assistant principal at South Middle School since the 2016-2017 school year and has been with Grain Valley Schools since 2013. She first served as a middle school math teacher and then as district instructional technology coach prior to being selected as assistant principal in 2016. Before coming to Grain Valley, Dr. Allen taught for the Raymore-Peculiar School District and Independence School District.

Dr. Allen replaces Theresa Nelson, who announced her retirement earlier this fall effective next summer. Mrs. Nelson has served as the principal at North Middle School since the school opened in 2010, and for 34 years overall with the school district.

Superintendent Dr. Marc Snow is encouraged by what Dr. Allen brings to school leadership. “Dr. Allen has proven herself as an effective leader through her investment in relationships. She understands the needs of middle school students and what it takes to engage students in their learning. Meeting the individual needs of middle school students can be challenging and Dr. Allen is committed to working with families and staff to address the needs of each student.”

Dr. Allen expresses her enthusiasm for the new opportunity. “I am grateful to the Grain Valley School District's Board of Education and superintendents for giving me the opportunity to share my passion for education at North Middle School. I have learned from the best and brightest leaders, teachers, coaches, and staff. Now, by harnessing the power of collaboration and developing a strong rapport with teachers, staff, students, and parents, I look forward to serving North Middle School."

A search for the South Middle School assistant principal role will begin immediately.

Results from our survey about the school late start on October 31.
