Coach Randy Draper to be inducted into the Missouri Basketball Coaches Association 2019 Hall of Fame
Girls Basketball Coach Randy Draper will inducted into the Missouri Basketball Coaches Association 2019 Hall of Fame on April 13, 2019. Coach Draper has coached 19 seasons in Grain Valley. In his 27 years as a head basketball coach, Coach Draper spent the first 19 years coaching boys and the last eight years coaching girls. Draper’s teams have built an overall record of 434-268, winning five District championships and advancing to one quarterfinal. Draper has received over 10 area and regional Coach of the Year awards, including, KMZU Coach of the Year for boys and girls’ basketball; the Independence Examiner Coach of the Year for boys’ and girls’ basketball; and District Coach of the Year for boys’ and girls’ basketball guiding his teams to eight conference championships.

FOCUS for Grain Valley Easter Egg Hunt
Join FOCUS for Grain Valley for their Annual Easter Egg Hunt on April 13th. Festivities will begin at 10:00 am sharp at the pavilion behind the Grain Valley Community Center. Children up to and including 10 years old are invited to participate in the Annual Easter Egg Hunt! Designated areas based on age will be provided for the egg hunt. Bring a basket for candy and a bag for the recycled eggs.

Arrive early as the Egg Hunt begins at 10:00 am SHARP!  Don't be late or you will miss out!

You may take pictures with the Easter Bunny from 9:00 to 9:50 am.

Please bring canned goods for the Grain Valley Assistance Council's food pantry.

Cruising for Grads Car Show This Saturday
The event begins at noon on Saturday, April 13 at Grain Valley High School and benefits Project Grad, an all-night event this spring for our graduating seniors.

CARS, TRUCKS, BIKES . Bring them all out and enjoy a day of fun. Registration begins at 11:00 am. We will have raffle drawings, lots of hourly give-aways. Lots of good food and enjoyment. Please join us again this year in making Project Grad a success. Let’s keep our kids safe. All proceeds go directly to Grain Valley PROJECT GRAD.

20.00 entry fee. Spectators are free.

The GVHS Annual Alumni Banquet is Saturday, April 27
If you graduated from Grain Valley High School you may be interested in the Annual Alumni Banquet. Follow the instructions below to reserve your seat for this year's event.

This year's banquet will be at Grain Valley High School with dinner beginning at 6:30 pm. The building will be opened at 5:00 pm so classmates may gather and visit before the banquet. Each Alumni member may bring one guest. At the banquet last year the Alumni Association voted to give two additional $500 scholarships to a GVHS graduating senior. If you would like to participate feel free to send a few extra dollars with your reservation.

Classes celebrating reunions (75th, 50th, 25th, etc.) will be recognized during the roll call of classes. We urge you to call some of your classmates and encourage them to attend. Classes will be seated together by placing year of graduation on adjoining tables. Alumni members and former teachers are welcome to share memories during the roll call of classes. Dress comfortably and come prepared to renew old friendships and acquaintances. Have a good time as we celebrate 110 years of graduating seniors from GVHS. We look forward to seeing you on April 27, 2019.

Kansas City Young Audiences Summer Arts Education Programs
Kansas City Young Audiences (KCYA) is now enrolling for their summer camps. KCYA is the leading provider of quality arts education in the Kansas City area. Camps offered this summer include: Ballet A Day, Broadway Bound, Puppet Pals, Let's Dance, Improve Adventure, Master Painters, among others.

Don't Be The Dealer - Drug Take Back Program
The Grain Valley Police Department will be hosting its annual Drug Take Back Event on Saturday, April 27 from 10:00am to 2:00pm in the GVPD parking lot (711 Main Street).

Residents are encouraged to bring unused or expired prescriptions and over the counter medications to the event. No questions will be asked. No syringes will be accepted.
