GBN receives Exemplary designation from ISBE

Glenbrook North has received an Exemplary designation from the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE). This summative designation is based on a data set consisting of 2018 PARCC, SAT and DLM-AA proficiency scores, English language progress to proficiency, chronic absenteeism, and ninth grade on track and graduation rates.

An Exemplary designation means that a school has:

  • No underperforming student demographic groups at or below the “all students” group of the lowest 5 percent of all Title 1 schools

  • A graduation rate of greater than 67 percent

  • Performed in the top 10 percent of schools statewide

Many parents, students and staff recently participated in a calendar survey to help provide insights on this potential shift. The results of the survey will be shared at an upcoming Board meeting and the concept will continue to be discussed, with the earliest possible calendar change impacting the 2020-2021 school year.
