This year’s GBN Variety Show, “Vision,” is a high-caliber collection of performances highlighting the many talents of students. Tickets cost $15 and are on sale now at Tickets may also be purchased at the GBN Student Activity Office during normal school hours. The GBN Student Assistance Program will be hosting a program titled “Keeping Current on Vaping and Cannabis Law." Come learn about vaping, the recent changes to cannabis laws, and the impact on adolescents in our community. Join presenter Erin Tegge, Prevention Project Manager at Peer Services, as well as panelists Jeanette Jordan (Associate Dean of Students at GBN) and John Seiler (Northbrook Police Department Detective). Help GBN support local food pantries

GBN will be hosting a Foodapalooza Festival from 7-9 p.m. Feb. 6 in the Main and Back Gyms to kick off the school's annual food drive. There will be volleyball tournaments, live music, food, games and much more entertainment. Admission is $3. All proceeds benefit local food pantries. Throughout the remainder of the month, students will be collecting money at various school events. Students will be collecting food donations at Sunset Foods on Feb. 23, as well as hosting a fundraiser at Waterway Carwash that same day. Non-perishable food collection will take place at school during the week of Feb. 24. 

Glenbrook Musical Auditions 

Auditions for the 2020 Glenbrook Musical, “Cinderella,” will be held from 3:45 to 6 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 25 at GBN and 3:45 to 6 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 26 at GBS. Callbacks will be held from 3:45 to 6 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 27 and Friday, Feb. 28 at GBN. No experience is necessary. A musical clinic will be held at 3:45 p.m. Monday, Feb. 24 in the GBN choir room. Winter Sports Awards Night
6:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 27, CPA
All winter sports athletes will be recognized on this night. The program will include a brief general session to introduce the varsity teams’ most valuable players, All-Conference awards and Central Suburban League scholar-athlete awards. The evening is highlighted by a winter sports video. Other individual awards will be presented after the general session, divided up by sport. No tickets or reservations are required.

Turnabout Dance

8:30 to 11 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 29, Competition Gym

The 2020 Turnabout dance is celebrating the Roaring 20s with a “Great Gatsby”-themed dance. This event is chaperoned by GBN staff and sponsored by the Spartan Marching Band. Students must be in attendance from 9:30 to 10:30 p.m. Non-GBN students must be registered in advance in order to purchase tickets. Non-GBN student forms are available in the Dean’s Office. New this year, the dance will be supporting the school’s winter food drive! Ten percent of each ticket purchased will be donated to the food drive.
Individual tickets may be purchased at the bookstore for $20 with an activity pass or $25 without an activity pass. Tickets will also be sold at the door for $30. College Colloquium for junior students, parents

Glenbrook South and Glenbrook North will host a combined College Colloquium at GBS for juniors. The College Colloquium provides an opportunity for junior students and their parents to attend several different sessions regarding a variety of topics associated with the college process. These topics have been carefully selected to provide your family with insight, as well as with practical information to assist you in this journey.  We have procured nationally and locally known speakers who are excited to share their expertise with you during the program.

Junior demonstrates passion for music and performance

From taking the podium with raised arms leading the marching band as drum major to carrying the tune with fellow members of the choir, junior Zach Torf’s passion for music and performing makes a statement in all of his commitments.

Torf said performing is enjoyable for him in a weird way because he likes the anticipatory pre-show nerves unique to live performances.

“You can practice a million times and you will always be nervous,” Torf said.

Assist in the GBN Principal Search

The District 225 leadership team invites the school community to provide input to assist with the search for the next principal of GBN by participating in an online survey. The survey is managed by an outside consultant who has been hired to help the district identify key attributes and characteristics that the school community feels are important in selecting the next principal. The survey is open through Feb. 5.

The Glenbrook Foundation's Annual Theatre Fundraiser: "Cinderella"

Prepare for a night of fun, socializing and theatre at the Glenbrook High School Foundation's Annual Fundraiser “A Night of Glenbrook Theatre” on May 2, 2020. Enjoy a full-course dinner at the school with friends, families and D225 administrators. This year's guest speaker will be Judy Moe, former head of the GBN Music Department and choir director.
