Monthly Reminder
April 2019
Spring opportunities
Happy Financial Literacy Month! Look for tips on our social media pages about budgeting, spending wisely, saving, and being a smart borrower. Start thinking about your summer plans now - apply for internships, find volunteer opportunities, job shadow some professionals, and find ways to make and save some money.
High school students
Did you know there are scholarship opportunities for students of all ages? You don't have to wait until your senior year to start searching and applying. Just remember to never give out your financial information or your social security number. There are scholarship scams to be aware of, find legitimate sites and tips for searching safely.

Seniors will be celebrating their plans for after high school - celebrate with them! Graduating from high school is a big accomplishment, but that's not where success ends. There are many benefits of college. Not sure what counts as college? Spoiler! It's any education beyond high school - that includes certificates, associate degrees, bachelor's degrees and beyond.

Missouri Connections offers resources and interactive games about planning your future. Log on using your school's information to save your work, or as a guest if you don't have a school login.

Countdown to graduation is on! Finalize your plans now. Most colleges ask that you let them know of your intent to enroll by May 1. Celebrate Decision Day on or around May 1 with your classmates and share your decision on social media using #MODecisionDay and #IDecided. Use Decision Day resources and make plans to participate in activities if your school is hosting a Decision Day event.

Use our redesigned College and Degree Search and the new MoSCORES online web tool to find the right career, college and program for you. All education beyond high school counts as college! Learn about the many benefits to continuing your education here.
Going to college doesn't have to mean drowning in debt. Learn how to be a responsible and smart borrower and ways to reduce out-of-pocket costs.
If you haven't filed your FAFSA yet, make that your #1 priority. You can't receive most forms of financial aid without it. File the FAFSA online or by using the new myStudentAid app.
Don't stop applying for scholarships! There are tons of scholarships out there, many of which go unclaimed because no one applied. Don't let that happen because every scholarship helps!

Don't miss the June ACT and SAT tests - they are your last chance to improve your score for the Bright Flight scholarship.

Summer internships and jobs are a great way to make money and gain valuable experience. Summer will be here before you know it. Find the career services office on your campus and visit to find an internship that's right for you!

Have you signed up for our texting service yet? We'll send you a few texts a month with important financial aid reminders and tools to help you succeed. Text #MOSUCCESS to 41411.
As you register for courses keep these three things in mind:
   • Know how many credit hours you need for the degree you are seeking.
   • Complete 15 or more credit hours each semester and make sure the courses you take count toward your degree.
   • Consider all your options – online and summer classes can help you get the credit hours you need.

If you're transferring for the fall, get in contact with your transfer office and check out the Course Transfer Tracker to see your transfer options and to track your progress toward meeting general education requirements.

If you haven't already, file the FAFSA online at or by using the new myStudentAid app.
