Camden Colts Fun Run

Thank you for supporting our Camden Colts Fun Run! Pledging will still be open until November 21st. As you know, we are trying to raise funds for shade on the playground. The estimates we received for that shade are around $25,000. We realized that was a tall order for one fundraiser so we made the goal of this first fundraiser a more reachable but still challenging $15,000. We will continue to raise funds for the shade until we have the full amount needed to provide a cooler, more comfortable place for our children to play.

Shoeboxes for Soldiers!

We are still collecting items to fill our Shoeboxes for Soldiers.  Please send your items to your child's class.  Our goal this year is to fill 100 boxes by the end of November.  We have reached half of that goal so far.  Come on, CES!  We can do it!!

A list of suggested items can be found on our school website at https://www.kcsdschools.net/Domain/13.

Counselor's Corner

Thank you to Mr. Kerry Hayes, KCSD Coordinator for Bullying Prevention, for visiting with 3rd and 4th grade students and sharing valuable information about bullying and how to prevent it.  He equipped our Colts with the tools they need to be a part of the solution, not the problem. Mr. Hayes also shared some information for parents from The BULLY Project:

Ten Actions ALL Parents Can Take to Help Eliminate Bullying:

  1. Talk with and listen to your kids everyday.

  2. Spend time at your child’s school.

  3. Be a good example of kindness and leadership.

  4. Learn the signs of bullying.

  5. Create healthy anti-bullying habits early.

  6. Help your child’s school address bullying effectively.

  7. Establish household rules about bullying.

  8. Teach your child how to be a good witness or positive bystander.

  9. Teach your child about cyberbullying.

  10. Spread the word that bullying should not be a normal part of childhood.

Students at CES really enjoy seeing their administrators around the building, especially at lunch!  These boys are posing with Mrs. Goodwin.

Mrs. White visited with these students at lunch. Building rapport with students is such an important (and fun!) part of being an educator!
