Fairy Tale STEAM Night was held on October 17th.
Once upon a time, Jennifer Coleman of the Shenandoah Valley Discovery Museum welcomed 213 enthusiastic children and adults to a Fairy Tale STEAM Night at Middletown Elementary. At least 22 fantastic volunteers from Sherando High School and the Middletown faculty worked their magic as they facilitated the 12 hands-on STEAM modules in the gymnasium and cafeteria. Every child attending the STEAM Night had to lift the curse on the grown-up accompanying them by teaching the grown-up at least one thing as they learned and played together. As the adults and children exited the gym, Jen lifted the curse as adults revealed the new knowledge they had gained from their children as they worked together to make pigs fly, levitate a snitch, create an appropriate water chemistry for mermaids, put together an electrical circuit, or engineer a trill-proof bridge. Special thanks are due to the Sherando High School Family and Consumer Science students, who maintained a high level of professionalism and problem solved effectively, even when a power outage ended the evening prematurely. And they all lived happily ever after?
Enjoy the holiday break.
As we are approaching cold and flu season, we have seen an increase in absences. If your child is absent from school, please call the office at 540-869-4615, or send an email explaining their absence to:
