Speak Up Survey

Students, parents, staff and community members are being asked to complete the 2018 Speak Up Survey. The brief, anonymous survey offers the opportunity to share perspectives on key educational issues, particularly issues related to digital learning and the use of technology to support future ready schools. The findings will be used by Frederick County Public Schools in the planning and decision-making process concerning educational technology tools and applications. The deadline to participate is January 31, 2019. (LINK TO )
Speak Up, Stay Safe

Everyone can play a part in keeping our schools safe and secure. If you see suspicious activity, be prepared to give a detailed report to school staff and the authorities. Pay special attention to things like: What, specifically, you observed; who you saw; when and where you saw it; and why it seemed suspicious. These details will help school staff and the authorities as they work to keep our schools and students safe. Please report any suspicious activity noted in the vicinity of schools to the Frederick County Sheriff's Office at 540-662-6168.

Once requests are all in, you will receive a letter with your child’s class choices. At that time you can make any changes to those requests. Schedule changes can be made up until the last day of the school year.

If you are continuing your education after high school, continue to look for scholarships - many are posted on the Sherando website under the School Counseling link.

If you are planning to go to LFCC next year, be sure to meet with Mr. Bucher so he can assist you with the process. The LFCC Scholarship application is now open but you must apply to LFCC before you can fill out the application for scholarships.

The Guidance Office will be distributing paper copies of student scores and their test booklets to the students soon.

If you plan to go to college, be sure to sign up for an SAT or ACT this spring. See your counselor for information. TBA - a college planning night with a presentation by a college admissions counselor. Watch announcements for further information.

In the next few months, counselors will be meeting individually with sophomores to review their high school plan, discuss career plans and the pathways to those careers.

Choose your classes wisely for next school year. Look at the Program of Studies to see which elective classes match your interests and maybe careers in which you may have an interest.
