All Schools Accredited at the Highest Level
Each of Frederick County’s public schools has achieved the highest level of accreditation for 2019-20. All 18 schools have been designated as Accredited based on the Virginia Board of Education’s school accountability system.

SAT Scores Exceed National Mean
The overall mean score of Frederick County Public Schools’ 2019 graduates who took the SAT exceeded the national mean score of public high school seniors. Frederick County’s mean score of 1105 exceeded the national mean score for public schools by 66 points- 40 points higher in the evidence-based reading and writing section of the SAT and 26 points higher in the math section.
A Grand Groundbreaking
DecorativeConstruction of the replacement Robert E. Aylor Middle School is officially underway. A groundbreaking ceremony for the new school was held on September 5. The new school, which is being built on White Oak Road in Stephens City, is scheduled to open for the 2021-22 school year.             
Business Forum Focuses on Workforce Development
Dr. Sovine Panel DiscussionSchools Superintendent David Sovine participated in a panel discussion during the Museum of the Shenandoah Valley's Business Forum on September 18.
Dr. Sovine, the school superintendents from Winchester and Clarke County as well as the Chief Executive Officer of Valley Health talked about workforce development, career and technical education, work-based learning and the importance of school/business partnerships.

Update Student Contact/Emergency Information
Parents/guardians of FCPS students are being asked to use Parent/Student 360 before Monday, September 30 to review and update their contact/emergency information for each of their students or to verify that the information is correct. Having accurate contact information for each student is important so the school division can make contact with families in the event of an emergency and items mailed by the school division can be delivered.             

Community Heroes Honored
Greenwood Mill Elementary School honored community heroes on September 11 by hosting a special luncheon and parade. Members of the military, veterans, first responders and public servants were among those recognized.
Review of Family Life Sensitive Objectives Materials
Resources and materials being considered for use with the Family Life Sensitive Objectives curriculum are available for review at the Frederick County Public Schools Administration Building through October 11. The materials may be reviewed Monday through Friday between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. or by appointment Mondays through Thursdays between 4:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.

FCPS Gives Back
DecorativeA team of nearly 20 Frederick County Public Schools’ employees took part in the United Way of Northern Shenandoah Valley Day of Caring earlier this month. The team members donated their time to help clean and organize the Highland Food Pantry.

New Hall of Famers
DecorativeThe James Wood Athletic Association inducted five athletes and one contributor into James Wood High School’s P. Wendell Dick Athletic Hall of Fame on September 20. The inductees included Russell Feeley, Jr. (’63), James “Jimmy” Porter, Greg McFarland (’84), Charles “Chuck” Phares (’85), Dawnette Bowers (’88) and Jerri Jenkins (2000).
Come Roll With Us
The Frederick County Public Schools Transportation Department is holding an open house and hiring event on Thursday, October 17 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. During the event, individuals are invited to visit the transportation department and learn the many benefits of working as an FCPS school bus driver. The event is being held at the Transportation Department at 2261 Front Royal Pike, behind Armel Elementary School.

FCPS Rapid Communication System Text Messages
The Frederick County Public Schools’ Rapid Communication System includes an SMS text message function. In order to receive text messages sent through the FCPS Rapid Communication System, parents must have the phone number of the device on which they want to receive text alerts included on their child’s student record. In addition, they must opt-in to receive the text messages if they have not done so previously. To opt-in, text “Y” or “Yes” to 67587 from the device on which you want to receive text messages. Once the opt-in process has been completed, you will receive a confirmation text message.

Frederick County Public Schools Virginia News Calendar Student 360 Schools Staff Directory Rapid Com Bus Routes Menus MySchool...Facebook YouTube PeachjarFrederick County Public Schools has a custom mobile app that provides instant access to a variety of school and division information including lunch menus, the school calendar, student assignments/grades, MySchoolBucks and school news. The app is available at no cost from Apple’s App Store or Google Play and allows users to follow the school division as well as any individual schools.
Free and Reduced Meals Program
There is no deadline to apply to participate in the Free and Reduced Meals Program. Eligible families are encouraged to apply so that eligible students can receive both school breakfast and lunch for free or a reduced price each school day.  
MySchoolBucks Makes Payments Easy
My School Bucks  MySchoolBucks is an online tool that can be used to easily make payments for student meals, fees, activities and other purchases at any time. Payments can be made through MySchoolBucks using VISA, MasterCard or Discover. Parents can also view current cafeteria account balances, review recent purchases, receive low-balance alerts and setup recurring payments on a weekly or monthly basis through MySchoolBucks.
