Kindergarten Registration for 2020-2021 school year will be done in two phases this year.  Parents with a student already enrolled in Frederick County Public Schools, should register their rising kindergartner between February 3rd - February 28th between the hours of 10:00 AM - 2:30 PM at Greenwood Mill Elementary School. The parents of rising kindergarten students who have no other children enrolled in FCPS, should register their child from March 9th - 13th.  To register during these dates, please call Greenwood Mill @540-667-7863 to set up a registration appointment time. We will also hold an evening registration on Wednesday, March 11th @ 4:30 PM - 6:30 PM.

 Thank you!

We would like to thank our students and families for supporting Mrs. Kieffer's Ocean of Love.  We raised almost $500.00!  Be on the look out for March's ocean animal.

FCPS School Quality and Perception Survey

Frederick County Public Schools is partnering with independent research and communications firm K12 Insight to conduct a School Quality and Perceptions Survey from March 16 - April 10.  All parents, students in grades 5-12 and school-based staff will be asked to share their candid feedback about school quality, student and academic support, safety and behavior, school leadership, family involvement, and budget priorities. The results will help determine how well the school division and individual schools have addressed the areas for improvement identified through the 2016 and 2018 School Quality and Perceptions Surveys as well as current strengths and areas in need of focus.  Parents will receive an invitation and link to the survey via e-mail on March 16. Students in grades 5-12 will be provided with an opportunity to complete the survey in school.

Deciding that someone who has wronged you doesn’t have to pay.

Ask a kid:

  • Think of a time that a friend or sibling hurt your feelings or did/said something mean to you.  How do you react?

  • On the other hand, think of a time that you hurt someone else’s feelings.  How did the other person react?

  • Discuss instances when it was difficult to forgive someone.

  • How does it feel when someone forgives you after you have said/done something that you regret?

 Reminders For Car Riders

  Morning Drop Off

  • Students will be dropped off outside of the cafeteria doors. Staff members will be present to ensure students make it safely into the building. Car doors will not be opened for students unless there are some students who cannot get out on their own. The primary reason for staff to be out there is to ensure students enter the building safely. Students are not permitted to be dropped off at the top of the steps, by the playground, or anywhere else around the campus. This is for safety and supervision.

Afternoon Car Riders

  • Parents will park and come in to the school to pick up their student in the cafeteria. The cafeteria doors will be unlocked at 3:20 and one of the office staff members and additional staff members will be ready to receive you at 3:20 to sign out your child/children. Parents will need to show ID to sign out students.

  • Parents need to stay in the cafeteria until they have their student and exit through the cafeteria door.  If you need to use the restroom, you may use the restrooms in the cafeteria.

  • We encourage walkers and bikers. In order for your child to be dismissed as a walker, you must indicate that they are a walker on the transportation form you completed or you must send in a written note providing permission. We will not release students as walkers otherwise. Please ONLY send your child to our 3 crosswalks with crossing guards. These points are located at the intersection of Channing/Canyon, the playground entrance at Renee and behind the school where the steps are located.

  • Students may not be picked up on streets surrounding the school. This causes a safety hazard for our walkers. If students are picked up in areas other than the cafeteria or office, walking privileges will be revoked and students will be sent to the cafeteria daily for pick up or will ride the bus home.
