August 2019
Dear Parents:

The faculty, staff and administration at Robert E. Aylor Middle School would like to extend a warm WELCOME to all of our new and returning students and their families!

Aylor will be entering its 51st year of service to FCPS and our local communities. One
of the reasons that Aylor students are so successful is that our teachers and parents are firmly committed to helping their students find the joy in learning and the satisfaction of a job well done! We greatly appreciate all the work that is being done at home to support our students and their learning. We have high expectations for our students, and our curriculum is very challenging. It is the combined efforts of the parents, teachers, and students that enable Aylor to excel in areas of academic performance within Frederick County.

This year you can expect that your child will be challenged to learn new content, critically solve problems, utilize technology in their learning and exhibit outstanding character as well as actively participate in academic and extra-curricular activities. We hope to have you on board for this exciting and challenging journey. The Parent/Student 360 link to Tyler is your path to following your students’ progress and grades. This can be found under the Parent & Students tab on the Frederick County Public Schools website ( and each individual school website.

Summer is coming to a close and it is time to start thinking about the new school year, which begins Thursday, August 15. Several events and activities will be getting underway soon. Details of the various activities can be found in this newsletter. Information is posted on the school website under the “School News” section, on our FACEBOOK PAGE and on Comcast channel 18. We will continue to use Peachjar (email application) to post announcements as well as send messages via the Rapid Response Communication System.

As always, we encourage all of our students to get involved in the many clubs and activities that are offered here at Aylor. Join any one of the following clubs: FFA, TSA, FCCLA, FBLA, SCA, & Math Counts. Participate in the following activities: The school musical, Accents Magazine, Spelling Team, Forensics, Dance Team, tutoring program and more. Students should listen to daily announcements and check the large screens in the cafeteria for school information updates. Make your middle school experience a great one by getting involved!

Green and Gold Day is Tuesday, August 6th from 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.  We also hope that all of our new 6th graders attend our Camp Spartan on Monday, August 12th from 8:00 a.m.- Noon.  Back to School Night will be held on Wednesday, Aug. 28th, for grades 6 – 8 starting at 5:30 p.m.

I hope everyone enjoys the remaining days of summer and you are getting ready for another great year at R. E. Aylor Middle School. “Catch the Spartan SpeaRRR” it.
