Principals Corner

It is hard to believe that the holiday season is upon us. During this busy time of year, we strive to remain consistent for all students and we are utilizing our house system to keep our focus on reinforcing positive behaviors and caring for each other as a community of learners and friends. Thank you to all of you who have donated the travel size items that we will use to build bags for the homeless during our December house meeting. It is a wonderful feeling to be working toward a goal that will help so many.

The School Improvement team continues to meet monthly to review school-wide data and make instructional decisions in order for us to support the growth of all students. Our teacher house teams have been meeting to conduct a comprehensive needs assessment by looking at three years worth of math and reading data at the school, county and state level. All teachers continue to participate in our book study on explicit instruction in order to target the needs of all students as they learn and grow. As a staff, we continue to learn ourselves in order to benefit our students.

Please stay connected with happenings at Greenwood Mill by following us on Facebook and on Twitter @GreenwoodMill. We love sharing the great things happening here on a daily basis and want you to share in our successes.

Enjoy the season with family and friends and thank you for all you do to support us here at Greenwood Mill. Together we can accomplish anything. See you in 2019!

Lost and Found

As the weather has gotten colder, our lost and found has grown.  Please remind your student/students to check the lost and found outside the cafeteria.  Any items that are left after December 19th will be donated.

December is Compassion Month

Take some time this month to evaluate the needs of people in your life.  One night a week, sit down as a family and identify people at school, work, in your neighborhood or even in your own home who have a need.  Consider and discuss as a family what can be done about that need and set out to do something about it in the coming week. Talk about where you see people showing compassion.  How does it feel to provide a need for someone else? Share some examples of compassion that you have experienced in your lifetime.
