SEPTEMBER 2020
WELCOME BACK! WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW!

  • Welcome Back! We are so excited for our school year to begin!  We have been working hard, planning and preparing for your child's arrival, whether it is in person or virtually.  Please know that we are here to help and support you and your child through this transition.  If you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to reach out to your child's teacher, our school counselors or an administrator.
  • First Day of School:
A Day: Tuesday, September 8th
B Day: Wednesday, September 9th (Students not in the school building on Tuesday, September 8th, will receive learning activities to do since attendance will be taken)
  • Reminder: A Day students come on Mondays and Thursdays.  B Day students come on Tuesdays and Fridays.  There are only two expectations to this on the calendar.  The first is the first week of school.  The second is the week of November 2nd because of Election Day.
  • SAVE THE DATE:  Our Annual Title I Meeting will be held on Wednesday, October 28th at 7:00pm.  This will be a virtual event.  We will send a link to all families to participate.
  • Enhanced Safety Protocols for the 2020-21 School Year:

    • All adults should wear a face mask in the building at all times except in the following situations:

      • Eating or drinking

      • When a staff member is in his/her classroom or office alone

      • A staff member is greater than 6 feet from another person

    • Students in grades 2-5 are required to wear face masks.  Additionally, it is strongly recommended for students in grades K-1 to wear a face mask.  K-5 students are required to wear a mask on the bus.  Breaks from wearing the mask will occur throughout the day.

    • Social distancing of 6 feet between individuals.  This includes:

      • All areas of the school building (student seating, resource, work spaces etc.)

      • It’s important to note that incidental contact between individuals will occur throughout the day.  However, staff will do their best to minimize these occurrences as much as possible.  Ex:  Students passing one another in the hallway 3 feet apart.

    • Hand-washing and use of sanitizer

      • Routines will be built into the day (resource, lunch, recess) where all students in classrooms will be expected to wash their hands or use sanitizer.

      • Students are expected to wash their hands or use sanitizer after resource, before/after recess, and/or before/after lunch.

    • Disinfecting of Desks/Tables and shared resources

      • Staff will be disinfecting often, specifically,  before/after lunch, after a resource class, and at the end of the day.

      • Staff will be provided disinfecting spray, wipes, and gloves.

    • Supply box

      • All students are required to carry a supply box to resource to mitigate the sharing of supplies.

      • It’s important that all students only use the supplies in their supply box throughout the day.

    • Use of Water Fountains

      • Students and staff should not use water fountains.  Students will be provided water bottles throughout the day.

      • Students are encouraged to bring their own water bottles from home.

    • Custodian Cleaning

      • It’s important to note that during school hours, common areas will be cleaned twice a day, (morning and afternoon) such as student bathrooms.

      • Night custodians will also be disinfecting commonly touched surfaces throughout the building such as door knobs.
