Cross Country Information


Cross Country practices are scheduled to begin on Monday, August 10th, at Aylor from 3-4:30pm every week day. Once school starts, students will then be bused to Sherando Park after school for practices. A sports physical must be on file with the school board office prior to the first day of practice. If interested, please email Cathy Russell, russellc@fcpsk12.net, to receive more information and any updates/changes that might occur over the summer. Please plan on conditioning the best you can over the summer to be able to run 2 miles by the first day of practice.

NOTE:  NOTHING HAS BEEN DETERMINED ABOUT THE SEASON , ALL INFORMATION IS                      FOR PLANNING PURPOSES

To Participate:  

* must have passed 5 subjects during 19/20 school year
* must have a physical on file with county nurse before the first day of practice
* must have some form of medical insurance
* not be age 15 before August 1, 2020

Important Dates:

Thursday, 8/6 - MANDATORY player/parent meeting in the gym at 7pm
(players wear shorts, tshirt and sneakers, you will be timed in the 40 yard dash following the meeting)

Monday, August 10th through Wednesday, August 12th 
8/10 - 8-11 a.m. tryouts
8/11 - 8-11 a.m. tryouts
8/12 - 3:30 - 6:30 p.m. tryouts
Players should wear shorts, tshirts (with last name written on back), sneakers or cleats (do not buy cleats until you know you made the team) and an extra water bottle

Thursday, 8/13 - practice 3:30-6:30 
Friday, 8/14 - practice 3:30-6:30

School is scheduled to start Monday, 8/17 - Practice will be 3-5:30 p.m. for the first week of school

Monday, 8/24 and forward - Practice will be 3-5 p.m.


Information on physicals:
You will NOT be able to participate until a physical is completed and on file at the SBO.  Please get your sports physical done as soon as possible.  It must be on the Virginia High School League form.  If your doctor does not have the form you can stop by the Aylor office and pick one up or you can click on the link provided and print one out (sports physical).   The completed medical form must be submitted to Pam Unhoch at the School Board Office on Amherst Street (next to James Wood Middle).  

The following are some health care facilities that offer sports physicals.  Please feel free to use your family doctor/pediatrician, but make the appointment as soon as possible.

Rising 7th Grade Student Information on TDAP
 **Rising 7th Grade Parents**

Before your child can start 7th grade they must have an updated Tdap vaccine. Your child can have this vaccine anytime after their 11th birthday. Please consider making your appointment for your child ASAP. Again your child will not be able to start 7th grade without an updated Tdap vaccine.
