The 12th Annual Sherando High School Homecoming Parade Thursday, September 20th hosted by the town of Stephens City, is being held on Main Street beginning at 6:30 PM.

Come and enjoy the parade that starts off at 6:30 and features floats, made & decorated by SHS students, SHS Homecoming Court, Sherando Warrior Football team, cheerleaders, band, local businesses and more.

Immediately following the parade, a bonfire will be lit by the Sherando Warrior with chants and cheers by the Sherando fans.

We need lots of volunteers for Parade Lineup, Safety Marshals and Convertibles/Pickups for the Homecoming Court: Email Mary Ann Kremer @ if you would like to join in the FESTIVITIES. There's something for everyone!!

 DECA, the marketing student co-curricular organization, is gearing up for another great year!! As the school year begins, we are looking for members to be part of this exciting and educational organization.  In addition to hosting some of the schools largest and most anticipated events, DECA promotes leadership, teamwork, and critical thinking through its outstanding competitive events program.  Join DECA by October 1 and receive a free T-shirt!!  For more information and membership forms, stop by Room 421.  Our theme this year is “READY FOR IT!” so let’s become amazing students, amazing leaders, and amazing DECA Members who are ready for the future!

The competitive debate and forensic teams meet every Tuesday from 2:45 until 4 p.m. in room 513. Interested students should contact Mr. Painter or show up for a meeting.



       September 10th - 11th

o   Senior Presentations. School Counselors will be making presentations to the seniors regarding post-graduation options and the steps to take to get there. This includes college, scholarships, financial aid, the military and employment resources.

      September 25th

o   Financial Aid Night - recommended for seniors and their parents. Sherando Auditorium 6:30 p.m.

      September 26th

o   College Night 6:00-8:00 at the Apple Blossom Mall. Plan to attend to speak with and get information from representatives of 2 and 4 year colleges, trade schools and the military.

      Each senior will meet with their counselor individually to review classes,

sols and certifications needed for graduation as well as to help them plan for post-graduation. These meetings will occur in September and October. A letter will be mailed home to parents with important information for senior year.

      October 10

o   PSAT will be given on October 10 at SHS. Sign up is September 4th - 27th. First come - first served.

      October 2nd - 3rd

       Freshman Presentations. School Counselors will make presentations to the freshman students regarding their 4 year high school plan, graduation requirements, and tips on how to be successful in high school.


      October 23rd

       FAFSA Night - 6:30 p.m. Sherando Auditorium. Get help filling out YOUR FAFSA . Bring parent and student SSNs, Driver Licence #s, parent and student 2017 Federal Tax Returns, records of untaxed income, and savings, investments, business and farm assets.


PSAT Registration
Students interested in taking the PSAT can register to take the test in the Guidance office September 4 - 27.  This test is recommended for juniors and sophomores who have completed Algebra and Geometry. Payment is required at the time of registration.  The cost of the test this year is $16.00.  Checks should be made payable to Sherando High School.  If you are paying in cash please have exact change.  Fee Waivers are available for juniors that qualify for free/reduced lunch.  The test will be administered on the morning of Oct. 10th at Sherando.  There is no makeup date for the PSAT.  Space is limited so interested students are encouraged to register early.  Students should see Mrs. Hoffman or Mrs. Hansen in the guidance office before school, during their study hall period, or after school to register for the test.  The deadline to register is September 27th.
