The MHS Guidance Department invites the parents/guardians of Seniors to attend
Senior Parent Night on Wednesday, October 3, 2018 at 6:30 p.m. in the Millbrook High School Auditorium. The following topics will be discussed: post-secondary options and pathways, searching for colleges, college application process, scholarships, and financial aid.

Parent / Teen Driving Night

There will be an informative meeting for all parents of students who are becoming new drivers. The meeting will be on Wednesday October 10th @ 6:30 p.m. in the auditorium.

Topics include: Licensure information, Behind the wheel, Insurance, Law enforcement and other useful information for new teen drivers.

In an effort to save time, paper and money, Frederick County Public Schools is asking parents/guardians to use Parent/Student 360 (Tyler) (
between September 28 and October 26 to review and update the
contact/emergency information for each of their students or to verify that there are no changes.

Parent/Student 360 usernames and passwords for 2018-19 are the same as they were last year. As a reminder, e-mails have been sent over the past several weeks to all parents/guardians providing Parent/Student 360 login information.

Instructions on how to review and update or verify student contact information are available through the FCPS website ( Reviewing and updating the contact/emergency information is important so the school can contact you in the event of an emergency, you can receive messages sent via the FCPS Rapid Communication System, and items mailed to you by the school, including end-of-year report cards, can be delivered.

Winter Sports Parent/Athlete Meeting -- October 29, 6:30 p.m.
Winter Sports practices begin on November 5.
You must have an approved VHSL physical on file at the SBO
and a completed Handbook for Student Athletes form on file before beginning.
The Fall MPAA Awards ceremony will be on Sunday, November 18, 2:30 p.m.

The pass must be in the possession of the pass holder to enter the game via the pass. Once the pass has been obtained by the purchaser/pass holder, the pass becomes the responsibility of the pass holder. Lost/misplaced passes are not the responsibility of the school and will not be replaced by the school.

Guidance Google Classroom
Attention Parents/Guardians:
Please encourage your students to join the Guidance Department Google Classroom. The Guidance Department will be announcing important information and events through Google Classroom this school year. Once your students join, they can invite you to join the page and you will be able to view the information that is posted. The Google Classroom page is also where your students can sign up to meet with their counselor and with the Career Coach. The code to join the Google Classroom is: 44c3zx.

Please sign up to join the MHS Guidance Class on Remind. We encourage all MHS students and their parents/guardians to sign up. The Guidance Department will be announcing important information, deadlines, and events through Remind. To sign up, text @pioneernow to the number 81010.

Financial Aid
Join other college-bound students and their parents at Lord Fairfax Community College for Super FAFSA Day on Saturday, October 20th, from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm. This event is designed to educate individuals about the financial aid process and assist with the completion of the 2019-20 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form. Super FAFSA Day is free and open to the public.

The Regional Financial Aid Night will be held on Wednesday, October 24, 2018 at 7:00 p.m. in the Stimpson Auditorium, Halpin-Harrison Hall on the campus of Shenandoah University. This free event, hosted by the Financial Aid professionals at Shenandoah University, will provide parents, students, and educators with information on applying for financial aid and completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

Career Cluster Day
Millbrook will hold a Career Cluster Day, highlighting law and public safety careers, on Thursday, October 18th, during advisory periods. All students, grades 9-12, are invited and encouraged to attend. Industry professionals will be here to speak with students about their career paths and answer questions.

PSAT Test Takers
Students that signed up to take the PSAT need to come to guidance on Oct. 3rd to get their testing notice and last minute information. The test will take place on Oct. 10th. Students need to be at their testing room by 7:45 that morning for check in. Students must bring a picture ID. They will not be allowed to test without it. Students also must provide their own approved calculator.

SOL Fall Writing Testing – Seniors Only
Seniors still in need of a verified credit in writing will be taking the Writing SOL on Oct. 23rd (multiple choice) and Oct 24th (short paper). Attendance is imperative for both days since the test cannot be scored unless both batteries are completed within this window. Students must pass this test to satisfy graduation requirements. Students will be getting testing notices the week prior to testing. Students will need to bring their fully charged Chrome-book with adapter cord to the testing room.

ASVAB Testing

Expand your horizons! Don’t miss the first step. The ASVAB Career Exploration Program can help you take steps now toward finding a career that’s right for you. Take advantage of the ASVAB Career Exploration Program as you consider a full range of career options. Free career testing will be 9:00 am on Saturday, November 17, 2018 at Millbrook High School. Seats are limited. This test is also a requirement for acceptance to the military. Come to guidance to register October 8th to November 2nd. *Students must have a picture ID the day of testing.
