COVID-19 Update
Virginia Governor Ralph Northam’s announcement that schools will remain closed through the end of the 2019-20 academic year has greatly impacted all of Frederick County Public Schools’ operations. During this unprecedented time, FCPS remains committed to serving the community and providing frequent, accurate communications. The FCPS website includes up-to-date information on the school division’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Information is available in both English and Spanish. Frequent updates are also shared via the FCPS Facebook page.

New Instruction to Be Offered Starting April 15
Although the educational materials and activities that have been offered to students by their teachers since schools were closed have focused on practicing and reinforcing skills that were previously taught, new instruction will begin for all students on April 15 and continue through the end of the fourth nine weeks
(June 5). Additional information on how the instruction will be provided, grading practices and other details will be shared prior to April 15. Students should routinely check their FCPS e-mail account for important information and updates from both individual teachers and/or schools.

Questions and Answers
In an effort to respond to questions efficiently, a Web page devoted to providing answers to the most frequently asked questions regarding the school division’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic has been created. Answers to questions on a variety of topics including the services FCPS is offering; educational opportunities; and student registration, meetings and events are included on the page. Questions and answers will be added and updated as necessary. The page is available in both English and Spanish.

Commencement Exercises
Although the status of graduation ceremonies scheduled for June 3-5 at James Wood, Millbrook and Sherando high schools remains unclear at the present time, the school division is committed to recognizing the accomplishments of graduating seniors in some manner at some point.
