Salvation Army and Bright Futures Food Drive - This year the Gainesboro SCA will have an opportunity to participate in TWO food drives. The food we collect will benefit our community through Bright Futures and the Salvation Army. As a way to encourage families to donate, the SCA will have a table set up at the Hoedown. As families bring in canned goods, they will receive a free bag of cotton candy. We will be collecting food from now until mid November. Below is a list of items we will be collecting.
canned vegetables (corn, green beans, etc)
canned / plastic jars of spaghetti sauce
canned fruit
canned tuna
canned meat
canned stew
boxes of instant potatoes
boxes of pasta
boxes of Bisquick
boxes of Healthy Choice cereals
boxes of crackers
plastic jars of peanut butter
plastic jars of jelly
boxes of macaroni and cheese
bags of rice
other nonperishable items

United for Change - From November 12th - 16th, we will be collecting change for United Way. United Way does great things for our community. Gainesboro Eagles are united to help our school community. As a school community we would like to join together to raise money. The class who raises the most money (in change) by November 16th will win an ice cream party! That week will also be a Spirit week, with a dress up day each day. Below is a list of dress up days.
Monday, November 12 - Crazy Hair Day
Tuesday, November 13 - Tye-Dye Tuesday
Wednesday, November 14 - Hat day
Thursday, November 15 - Jersey Day
Friday, November 16 - Gainesboro Day
With flu and cold season just around the corner I thought I would send a friendly reminder. If your child is sick please keep them home. If your child has a fever of 100 degrees or higher they can not be in school. Your child must be below 100 degrees without tylenol or ibuprofen for 24 hours before they can return to school. If your child is vomiting please keep them home. If you have any question please feel free to call me at 540-888-4550.

Parents, students, staff and members of the community can all play a part in keeping our schools safe and secure. If you see suspicious activity, be prepared to give a detailed report to school staff and the authorities. Pay special attention to things like: What, specifically, you observed; who you saw; when and where you saw it; and why it seemed suspicious. These details will help school staff and the authorities as they work to keep our schools and students safe. Please report any suspicious activity noted in the vicinity of schools to the Frederick County Sheriff's Office at 540-662-6168.
