2019-20 Kindergarten Registration

Frederick County Public Schools will be conducting kindergarten registration for the 2019-20 school year in two phases this year in an effort to make the process more efficient. The parents of rising kindergarten students who currently have other children enrolled in Frederick County Public Schools are being asked to register their student(s) for kindergarten during the early bird registration period from February 4 through March 1. The parents of rising kindergarten students who do not have any children currently attending Frederick County Public Schools should complete the registration process from March 4-8. All parents registering children to attend kindergarten for the first time in August 2019 should complete the registration process at the elementary school their child will attend. Specific registration times for both the early bird and regular registration periods can be acquired by contacting each elementary school. All children who will be five years of age on or before September 30, 2019, must register for kindergarten.
Yearbooks are by pre-order to Lifetouch. You will want to order now to avoid any disappointment later.  We have a limited supply of extra copies to sell when they arrive.  Yearbook pre-orders will be taken from Monday,  March 4th, 2019 through Thursday,  March 14th, 2019 and are $12.00.  To order online go to: and enter the school yearbook code: 12512719.
Thank you to all the teachers, kids and families that participated in our Read-a-Thon. We raised a grand total of 7,046.98! Top fundraising and reading classes at each grade level were treated to an ice cream party or pizza party for their hard work.

Kids Heart ChallengeParents, it’s time for your child to show heart! This year, we’re launching the Kids Heart Challenge. It’s your child’s chance to be a Heart Hero by learning about heart health, spreading the word and raising funds to help children with heart issues.

Together, with your child, go to Kids Heart Challenge. They can take one of the three challenges and email family and friends to ask for donations. The tenative end date is Thursday, March 14th.

Your child will earn a glow-in-the-dark wristband just for registering online. When they get donations, they will receive Echo, Finn and a clasp.

Thank you for supporting the physical and emotional well-being of our students and the American Heart Association.

It'll be a ZOO at Bass-Hoover for Field Day on Friday, May 31, 2019!

Speak Up, Stay Safe

Parents, students, staff and members of the community can all play a part in keeping our schools safe and secure. If you see suspicious activity, be prepared to give a detailed report to school staff and the authorities. Pay special attention to things like: What, specifically, you observed; who you saw; when and where you saw it; and why it seemed suspicious. These details will help school staff and the authorities as they work to keep our students and schools safe. Please report any suspicious activity noted in the vicinity of schools to the Frederick County Sheriff's Office at 540-662-6168.

The last day of school remains June 5th.
