Being a school board director is a great way to give back to the community and to help ensure children get an excellent education. School board directors are publicly elected officials - parents and grandparents, young people and senior citizens, and community members from all walks of life.
School directors work together to oversee the school district. As a board, their primary responsibilities are:
- Select and evaluate the superintendent
- Adopt and revise the annual operating budget
- Review, revise and adopt policies
- Serve as community representatives
- Monitor the district's progress towards its goals
