Families may change selected learning model for second grading period
The District has been working slowly and methodically to bring students back into classrooms since Sept. 8. Using a tiered approach, students who selected the in-person learning model in early August are returning to schools and, while not all students have returned, planning is beginning for the second grading period.

Beginning Wed., Sept. 23, families who would like to change their selection of instructional learning model (in-person or virtual learning) for the second grading cycle (Oct. 19-Dec. 18) may do so by completing an online questionnaire that will be published on our website and on our social media platforms next week.

Families will have until Sept. 30 to submit their change. Only families wishing to change their current learning model selection need to complete the online questionnaire.

Families are reminded that a selection of virtual learning for the second grading period means a commitment to remain in that learning model for the complete grading period.

For more information regarding the instructional learning options and commitments for both, please visit our Back to School webpage.

Parent accounts launch today
Schoology parent accounts are here! You now have the ability to create your own parent account in Schoology.

Today, Friday, Sept. 18, your child will receive an email in their NISD Gmail account. It will contain your student's access code and the instructions for how to create an account. If you do not get the email, you can also contact your student's teacher for the code. If you have already created an account at Schoology.com, you will need to use a new email address to create your parent account.

Briscoe MS band directors hit right note with 3-D solution

By using a 3-D printer making multiple mouthpieces and then working with them one-on-one over Zoom. Witness what happens when collaboration and creativity work together to help students find their perfect musical note.

Only seniors signed up to take SAT exam
allowed on campus Oct. 14
On Wednesday, Oct. 14, only 12th grade students will be allowed on high school campuses to take advantage of a free College Board assessment, the SAT, being offered to enrolled NISD students this school year.

On Thursday, Oct. 29, the PSAT exam will be offered to 11th graders.

Registration is required, and only students who indicate on the Participation Form that they will participate in the designated test will be allowed on campus and to test on scheduled testing dates. All students in the designated grade level need to complete a Participation Form to indicate if they will or will not test on campus on their particular date. Virtual learners in the designated testing grade who submit a Participation Form indicating they will test will need to come on campus since College Board does not offer an option for testing at home.

All seniors must complete this Participation Form, whether testing or not.

Students who choose not to participate and those in a grade level not testing will be expected to engage in virtual learning from home on Oct. 14 and Oct. 29.
